The Great Spotted Woodpecker is the one that you're most likely to see in the garden and they will occasionally come to the feeder. The adult birds have a red rump and additionally the male has a red patch to the back of his head wheras the female has no red on the head at all. The juveniles, as you can see from some of the images, have a much larger red cap.
